Workday 13th July 2025

July was part of a very dry summer, so much effort went into watering small, vulnerable trees, shrubs and flower beds over weeks and on work days.

Our energetic helpers also strimmed scruffy patches, mowed overgrown grassy areas and achieved a high hedge cut on Pen Row (the path between Cannon and Conway Roads named after the late Pen Greenaway, a distinguished war veteran, who lived next to the Rec).

The workers also tended flower beds, managed compost, washed the information panels, noticeboards and mosaic, and tidied the rampant clematis around the tennis clubhouse. It must also be admitted that drinks and nibbles were imbibed.
