On Sunday 13 April, our volunteers turned out in force to nurture Conway Rec. It was especially good to be joined by a good number of keen young people.
Together, we:
- washed and polished the mosaic;
- finished pruning the rampant cornus in the protected area behind the pond;
- planted a fine new shrub;
- trimmed the hedge alongside the path linking Conway and Cannon Roads (known as ‘Pen Row’).
- tidied the wilder space behind court 5 (‘The Dell’);
- mowed overgrown grass patches and edges while protecting wild flowers;
- picked litter and swept paths;
- watered the new wild flower patch;
- barrowed and carried green waste to compost corner and our collection point; and
- cleaned and tidied our equipment shed

We also managed to squeeze in a collective sit-down for hot drinks, cakes and a catch-up.
Altogether a most productive day helped by decent Spring weather. Thanks, Reccers, as ever you worked your socks off and made a difference!
