Workday 13th April 2025

On Sunday 13 April, our volunteers turned out in force to nurture Conway Rec. It was especially good to be joined by a good number of keen young people.

Together, we:

  • washed and polished the mosaic;
  • finished pruning the rampant cornus in the protected area behind the pond;
  • planted a fine new shrub;
  • trimmed the hedge alongside the path linking Conway and Cannon Roads (known as ‘Pen Row’).
  • tidied the wilder space behind court 5 (‘The Dell’);
  • mowed overgrown grass patches and edges while protecting wild flowers;
  • picked litter and swept paths;
  • watered the new wild flower patch;
  • barrowed and carried green waste to compost corner and our collection point; and
  • cleaned and tidied our equipment shed

We also managed to squeeze in a collective sit-down for hot drinks, cakes and a catch-up.

Altogether a most productive day helped by decent Spring weather.  Thanks, Reccers, as ever you worked your socks off and made a difference!
